So, when I'm not thinking of fandom meta, I'm thinking of recipes. My roommate is finally starting to pay me back for all the bills I paid over the last three months, so I splurged and bought some ~real food~. Yeah, I have weeks where all I can afford is ramen (lime shrimp and cheddar; I swear to god I've probably consumed so much MSG at this point I should be damn near immortal).

Anyways, I made this, and took a terrible phone picture, because I remembered to buy batteries, but then I couldn't find my camera, d'oh:

Crepes with portabella mushrooms and carmalized onions, topped with Béarnaise sauce.

I started out with the crepes using this recipe, and while the batter was resting, caramelized some onions in olive oil. When they were just about done, I added the mushrooms, and a cup of vegetable broth, and cooked it on medium-high until the broth was almost completely reduced. Right at the end I added about a teaspoon of fresh thyme.

Then I cooked the crepes, and filled them with the shroom/onion mixture, and made the Béarnaise. Although I totally cheat and use the blender, because omg srsly, who even wants to whisk anything that much, and I'm not concerned about eating raw egg yolks (the chances of contracting salmonellosis from eggs is very tiny), so I skip the double boiler part. Also, I couldn't find tarragon in the store, and I don't grow it because I'm not fond of it, so I just used tarragon vinegar, and added some more thyme, since it is one of my favorites.

And then I made strawberry-peach crepes for desert, but I didn't take a picture because what's even the point. :( But I blended together the strawberries and cream cheese with a little powdered sugar, and spread it on the crepes, and then laid peach slices over it and folded them up. It was all very yummy.

Oh, and! I also bought a chicken! (I don't mind eating meat/animal products as long as I know the animal had a comfortable life, which explains why chicken, butter and eggs are splurge items.) It's marinating in the fridge, will cook it tomorrow. \o/
