first day of class...

...went well.  Except for the hour long video we had to watch that was filmed sometime before I was born.  Zzzzzz.  It extolled the virtues of margarine as a replacement for butter.  *shudder*  Fake food: just say no.  The class was Nutrition, by the way.  Tomorrow is International Cuisine and Stocks and Sauces, and more careful questioning of instructors revealed that TDC is not one of the "staff" that still shows up on my schedule when I look it up online.

I just finished Red Seas Under Red Skies and Scott Lynch: You, sir, are a bastard.

Was it in the sense of: never use margarine because it's really bad for you or nutritionists say it's better for you because...? Margarine, dear me, horrid stuff. I find that "nutritionists" aren't healthy people. They really stick to "research" and have very limited vision. Adam works with one, she has no interest in eating organic food because "there's no evidence that it's better for you." I kid you not. And why are nutritionists so bloody unhealthy themselves? It's worse than doctors who smoke!

Margarine is supposed to be a healthier alternative to butter. I need to show you the article I found about margarine and other oils. Very enlightening.

And as far as there being no evidence that organic foods are better for you, that may or may not be true, but there is no denying it's better for the environment, not having pesticides and herbicides run off into water supplies.

An hour long video on margarine? :) Anyway, glad to hear it went well.

Oh god, yes. And the acting, predictably, was terrible, and the narrator's voice the most annoying baritone drone imaginable. It was like one of those films from the fifties, but set in the eighties. God.

You, sir, are a bastard

And we all know that's a compliment :)

Well yeah, but damn that was a hell of an ending!

Glad to see that your first day of school was passable! Also the lack of TDC in your life sounds like a little slice of Heaven.

Although I have to say the video sounds boring as shit.

Yes, but at least the video is over now.

Good point! You can always come watch the video on domestic violence I'm showing in a couple of weeks. It is really painful to watch, and you'll long for the other video.

Yes well, last semester TDC had us watch a video about fois gras and we got to watch a duck getting it's throat slit, and then disembowled. Safe to say I have had my share of videos.

I show Shaun of the Dead in my class. Somehow I think my video selections are better. :D
