bad fan! again!

I completely and totally forgot the the new Josh Groban DVD was coming out!  (Yes!  I'm a Grobanite and I have no shame!)  Honestly, why can't I listen to 30 Seconds to Mars, Death Cab for Cutie, Incubus, and other totally awsome rock bands and Josh Groban?  No one seems to think that's allowed.  Anyway, I went and spent all my money (seriously, I have only about 3 dollars in my checking account) on Mom's Mother's Day gift.  Not that I wouldn't have still gotten her the gift, even if I did spend more than was advisable, but I would have agonized over it and said to myself, "but if I buy it for her, then I'll have to wait four whole days until I get paid again and can buy the DVD!"  And really, who would want to miss out on that?

Oh, and as far as I know, whatever stupid mishap/thing that happened with financial aide has been resolved.  So now I'm back to normal waiting-to-hear-back-from-these-people mode, as opposed to Oh-My-God-I have-to-download-this-form-and-call-this-person-and-fax-this-and-THE-DAMN-FAX-WON'T-GO-THROUGH mode.  I just want to go college.  Why is that so hard?

And while I'm in bitchy PMS mode, when I ask my sister what she wants me to cook for dinner, she replies Hamburger Helper.  WTF?  AGH!  She has an amateur chef, who is trying her hardest to turn professional, living in the house, and she wants me to cook HAMBURGER HELPER?  Otherwise known as "What Your Mother Makes When She Doesn't Feel Like Cooking Real Food", or, "What Your Father Makes When Your Mother Is Out Of Town".

Who (what?) is Josh Groban?

I never heard of Hamburger Helper until I watched Running with Scissors - I had to ask Adam what a hamburger helper was. Then a couple of days later I saw it in the supermarket. We don't have it in Australia.

I have to say it looks revolting. But then, I don't eat hamburgers and I'm not a fan of mince. Lasagna or meatballs, I'll eat, and sausages, sure, but spagetti bolognaise is really pushing it. I'll eat it but, well, there's just something about mince that turns me off.

You may have noticed I'm a bit picky ;)

Glad to hear the financial aide crap worked itself out.

Okay, really, you don't know who Josh Groban is? Well, okay, I guess maybe not, I only know who he is because I had to listen to "safe" radio stations when I lived and cared for Nana. But he is internationally famous. He's a classical vocalist, he does all these beautiful songs in Italian, and some in French and Spanish. There's a good mix of English songs, too, but the only English ones I like are the ones he writes; the others are just too mushy and romantic for me to enjoy. The Italian songs probably are, too, but hey, I can't understand, so it's not a big deal.

Anyway, everyone looks at me weird when they see one of his CDs on my shelf or hear me listening to him in the car. I like what I like, and I don't see why I have to boxed in to just one genre.

Oh, I also love Amici Forever, although the name is just slightly juvenile to me, but they have amazing voices. Russell Watson, I like him too, but he's just not my most favorite.

And you're right, Hamburger Helper is revolting. But, I will eat that before I'll eat Tuna Helper. Barf. And yes, I did make it for her, just to shut her up. We ate it all the time growing up, probably at least every other week.
